Immigration formalities and procedures


According to the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States any alien for the mere fact of entering the country is entitled to protection by the Constitution and laws granted to Mexican nationals in Mexico.

However, foreign nationals if they are subject to a regime of control by the Mexican government.

Such control or regulation is foreseen in the General Population Act and its regulations and manuals and internal trade of the Unit for such control, in this case the Secretary of the Interior of the Mexican Federal Government.

The ISU does exercise effective control by an institute called "National Institute of Migration. "

This Institute is basically responsible for carrying and resolve approximately 68 different steps that a foreigner can make and also meets the legal situation of foreigners who illegally entered the country, among other functions.

However, all foreigners who enter Mexico legally subject to rules made by the Institute.

Aliens Among the regulations imposed by the Institute are that foreigners must get permission to work, change jobs, change employers, invest, study or just live in Mexico.
