New Manual of Immigration Procedures

During the month of April 2010 came into effect a new Manual for Immigration Procedures, which contains the rules governing the all immigration procedures carried out at the National Institute of Migration.

This new hand book has come to modernize the immigration procedure as it incorporates the modern advances that computers and Internet technology give us, to streamline the processing performed abroad and within Mexico.

Nevertheless we feel that it is still a complex process that if unknown, can cause problems for foreigners who ignore both the provisions of the law and the new manual.

As an example of how technology is being used is that previously, foreigners and their lawyers had the need to go to the offices of INAMI to check on the progress of the paperwork they had submitted, now they can track the progress of their case online at the web page of the Institute: http://www.inami.gob.mx/.

Another advantage that translates into time saved is that the data required for filling the FM1 form can be submitted via e-mail and now when you come to the government offices to stamp their fingerprints you won't have to waste time taking down this data.

Overall improvements of the new manual are evident in the reduction of time required for paperwork with the new handbook.
