What to do if the immigration authority applies economic sanctions.

When a foreigner commits a violation of the provisions of the General Population Law and its Regulations, the authority  will impose financial penalties (fines) to the foreigners or companies that have committed them.
The administrative fines to which we refer are of the most diverse causes, here are the most common causes why foreigners and  companies are sanctioned:

  1. Renewing your document extemporaneously.
  2. Iniciating activities, profit or not, without the prior permission of the authority.
  3. Not checking with immigration when entering or exiting the country.
  4. Not notifying the immigration authorities when a foreign worker has been discharged or fired within a period of 15 days after the event.
  5. Change of business or employer, without notifying the authorities.
  6. Untimely registration on the National Register of Foreigners.
  7. Not leaving the country at the fixed time the Immigration Institute has established.
  8. By subscribing or presenting to the immigration authorities any documents with forged signatures or endorsements or intentionally sign in a different manner to that usually used.
The amount of the fine applicable under the law may amount up to the equivalent of a thousand days of general minimum wage in the Federal District (México City) at the time of consummation of the conduct. Currently, the general minimum wage for the Federal District amounts to $ 62.33 (Sixty Two Pesos 33/100 MN).

In applying fines, the authorities are obliged by law (as with negative determinations) is to notify the fine, in writing, personally to the alien or the legal representative, declaring the motives, reasons or causes for which he is being sanctioned and or articles of the law, regulation or rule that is basing its determination.
